Itinerary Details
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu airport
and transfer to hotel.
Day 02: Full day valley sightseeing in
Swayambunath, Kathmandu Durbar square, Pasupatinath and
Boudhanath.
Day 03: Full day sightseeing in Patan
Durbar Square and Bhaktapur Durbar square.
Day
04: KATHMANDU - ZHANGMU (2300 M) -123 KM Early
morning drive from Kathmandu to Kodari (Approx. 6 hrs.)
After doing immigration and custom formalities drive (Approx.
35 minutes) to Zhangmu. Overnight in ZHANGMU.
Day 05: ZHANGMU - XEGAR (4350 M) - 244
KM. Drive (Approx 8 hrs) to Xegar crossing NYALMU (3800
m) and LALUNG LA (5050 M) Pass. This drive offers fantastic
view of the high mountains including Mount Everest (8848
m) on a clear weather day. Overnight in XEGAR.
Day 06: XEGAR - XIGASTE (3900 M) - 244
KM. Drive (Approx 8 hrs) to reach Xigatse, the place of
famous Tashilumpo Monastery and seat of Panchen Lama until
his death in 1989 with its huge Thangka wall which is
clearly visible on the north side of road. Overnight in
XIGATSE.
Day 07: XIGASTE - GYANTSE (3950 M) -
90 KM. In the morning visit Tashilumpo Monastery and the
free market of Xigaste. Later in the afternoon, prepare
for 2 hrs. drive to Gyantse. Here you visit Khumbum Stupa
and Phalkor Monastery. Overnight in GYANTSE.
Day 08: GYANTSE - LHASA (3650 M) - 259
KM. Drive (Approx 8 hrs) via Yamdruk Tso (Turquoise Lake)
and crossing two spectaculars passes KARO LA (5010 m)
and KAMBA LA (4794 m) to reach Lhasa.
Day 09-10: TWO DAYS IN LHASA. Sightseeing
tour of Potala palace, Norbulingka Palace, Jokhang Temple,
Drepung Monastery and Barkhor Bazaar.
Day 11: LHASA - KATHMANDU FLIGHT. Transfer
to Gonggar Airport takes about 2 hrs. The flight duration
is 1 hr and 10 min. and it is one of the most beautiful
flights in the world. On your flight you shall see The
Yarlung Tsangpo River, Lake Yamdruk, Kanchanjunga (8586
m) and Mt. Everest (8848 m).
Day 12: Kathmandu free day (Mountain
flight on request)
Day 13: Transfer to international airport.
