Gorkha-Annapurna trek
Glimpse of Itinerary
Day 01: By bus from Kathmandu to Gorkha
Lunch at Gorkha Camp on banks of Darondi River
Day 02: Gorkha - Chape Khola
Continue through village of Khoplang and climb to Luitel Bhanjyang.
Proceed to Tadi Pokhari and camp at riverside at Chape Khola.
Day 03: Chape Khola - Bhote Odar
Cross river and climb onto shoulder above the Marsayangdi Khola.
Proceed to Bhote Odhar
Day 04: Bhote Odar - Besi Sahar
Continue up-valley to Besi Sahar.
Day 05: Besi Sahar - Bahundanda
Continue up-valley crossing suspension bridges including one over the Musi Khola.
Views of the Manaslu Himal.
Proceed through Bhul Bhule and climb to the Gurung village of Bahundanda.
Day 06: Bahundanda - Chamje
Continue up the narrowing gorge - large waterfalls cascade from the valley walls.
The vegetation changes from sub-tropical to broad-leaved forests.
Proceed through village of Jagat and onto Chamje.
Day 07: Chamje - Bagarchap
Continue up the narrow gorge to reach Tal and continue to the Tibetan village of
Bagarchap with its stone-built, flat-roofed houses.
Day 08: Bagarchap - Chame
The Marsayangdi Valley now turns due west.
Proceed through forests of pine, spruce and oak with views behind of Manaslu.
Many mani-walls and chorten, also entrance/ exit archways to villages.
Day 09: Chame - Pisang
Gorge now opens out into a broad, alpine valley with blue pine and spruce forests.
View up to Pisang Peak ( one of the “trekking peaks” ).
Day 10: Pisang - Manang
Spectacular himalayan valley dominated by the towering heights of the
Annapurna Himal flanking its southern side.
Proceed past the village of Braga with the houses built into the steep valley-side.
Continue beneath wierdly eroded rock formations and encamp at the Tibetan
village of Manang beneath the great glacier tumbling from Gangapurna.
Day 11: Rest day/ exploration/ acclimatisation.
Day 12: Manang - Phedi
Climb above Manang with impressive views of the Annapurna Himal.
Day 13: Phedi - Tharong La - Muktinath
Steep climb of about 4 hours on scree and snow to reach the col.
Long, gradual descent to Muktinath.Views of Dhaulagiri from the Temple.
Day 14: Muktinath - Jomsom
Descend into the arid, rain-shadow region of the Upper Kali Gandaki.
Note: Possible to return to Kathmandu from local airstrip at Jomsom.
Day 15: Jomson - Marpha - Kalopani
Continue down valley through villages of Marpha and Tukuche
Day 16: Kalopani - Tatopani
Descend through the narrow canyon - the deepest gorge in the world, cleft
between the 8000 metre giants of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri by the Kali Gandaki.
Day 17: Tatopani - Shika
Steep, unrelenting climb away from the Kali Gandaki.
Spectacular views of Dhaulagiri and Tukuche Peak.
Day 18: Shika - Ghorepani
Continue uphill to reach Gorepani.
Poon Hill above is excellent viewpoint.
Day 19: Ghorepani - Birethanti
Long, unrelenting descent on stone stairways.
Day 20: Birethanti - Chandracot - Kaski
Cross Modi Khola followed by steep climb to Chandrakot.
Views on ascent to Annapurna South, Hiunchuli and Macchapucchre.
Contour along and up to Kaski.
Day 21: Kaski - Pokhara
Descend from ridge and encamp at Phewa Tal.
Day 22: A free day in Pokhara
Day 23: Drive/Fly back to Kathmandu
